    • Haystack Rock at sunset

      00:54

      from Conrad Added 8 0 0

Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon, USA is spectacularly scenic in just about any weather. I created this time-lapse sequence on a summer evening as the sun went down. I shot one sequence of still images in camera raw format with a Canon EOS 7D locked down on a tripod. I graded the stills in Adobe Lightroom with time-lapse processing by LRTimelapse. I moved the 4K video rendered by LRTimelapse into Adobe Premiere Pro, editing it with location audio recorded on the beach to create this 1080p video. I was able to simulate panning and zooming in software at full quality for 1920 x 1080 HD video, because the 5184 x 3456 pixel still images from the 7D contain enough additional pixels for creating cropped versions of the original sequence. I liked this because I could create shots dedicated to different details of the scene without having to shoot multiple time lapse sequences. The raw format of the still images provided more control over tone and color than JPEG stills or H.264 source video.

        • Dealey Plaza Grassy Knoll Timelapse

          00:28

          from Matthew Borrett Added

Originally shot this time-lapse back in May of 2015. It was during the heat of the day and it was hot! I got everything set up, aligned, and began shooting. I was super pumped with how the clouds were forming behind the buildings and moving through the city. Once I got back home and watched the initial sequence I was bummed because of the terrible flicker from the exposure changing so much. My location was also sitting atop a walk way on top of a train bridge, meaning everytime a train passed by it shook my tripod. I think a train passed about 5 or 6 times all said and done. Original settings were set at 1/1600 at F3.2, an ISO of 50, with a 1 second interval. I was hoping to achieve a smooth and fluid motion with the clouds, cars and the traffic. After a few months of debating between LRTimelapse and an AE Plugin, I decided to make the plunge and invest in LRTimelapse and begin learning the workflow. After some tweaks and a few different attempts I think the scene turned out pretty decent. After exporting it from LRTimelapse, I brought it into After Effects and worked on stabilizing the the clip from the trains moving the tripod. Was really happy with how the final shot coming out! Thanks for watching!

            • Moire Comparison - BMPCC and Sony a7s

              01:26

              from Tim Shoebridge Added

This is a brief and unscientific comparison of the moire effect that the BMPCC and Sony a7s can produce on certain subjects. The amount of moire that is evident depends on the sharpness of the image, which is why BMPCC Raw tends to produce more moire compared to BMPCC ProRes. But it depends in the end on how sharp you choose to make the resultant image. For this test I provided two versions of each clip, an unsharpened version and a sharpened one. The sharpened clips represent for me the absolute maximum amount I would personally want to push the sharpening in the clip without regard for the moire that is being produced. In these clips the moire is mostly evident in the metal cladding on the side of the bridge. Unfortunately I did not have a comparable focal length lens for the a7s and the shot is wider, moire is still there and most obvious on the left section of the bridge. The a7s was shot in S-log2, i have my picture profile set in-camera with -7 sharpness (detail).

                00:41

                from Both Hemispheres Added 149 2 0

Shot with a Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 14-24mm lens. Camera controlled by an iPad running qDSLRDashboard (with manual intervention). This video was shot at the same time as another video I've uploaded (that one with a narrower lens, from almost the same position), but I like the field of view in this one better. Pulled an all-nighter for this shoot, as I had to be in position by 4am to start setting up my equipment (though I did scout the location the day before). I used the iOS app PhotoPills to determine the path the sun would take, to ensure it was an interesting one. No audio. Edited in Lightroom, Photoshop and LRTimelapse.
