New technical possibilities are the mainspring of the today's television. The needs of the viewers seem secondary. Today, watching tv can mean a lot of things: TV via Internet, web content via TV, video on demand, IPTV, cable, satellite, DVB-T, mobile television, etc. But, how do we want to watch tv in the future? In the last few weeks we put together our thoughts and developed a TV experience concept. With GOAB we take the latest trends, bring the loose ends together, develop established ideas further and develop new concepts to provide a possible answer to the question: How do we want to watch television in the future? Check it out. We love to get your feedback More about the project: http://lab.SYZYGY.de Let's have a look behind the scenes: http://www.vimeo.com/22332554 _ Soundtrack: Telekinesis "Please ask for help" / http://telekinesismusic.com _

In January 2011, Oregon State University ichthyologist Brian Sidlauskas led a research expedition into the little-known Cuyuni River region of Guyana in South America. His team documented more than 5,000 fish, but Guyana’s immigration policies required them to identify and catalog every specimen they wanted to bring back—a nearly impossible task, especially on a tight schedule. Sidlauskas uploaded his research photos to Facebook and tagged members of the scientific community who were able to identify almost all of the photos in under 24 hours.

Back in April Sharp ran the #GetItDownOnPaper competition, offering one aspiring inventor the chance to win a two-month internship at Sharp Laboratories of Europe. The challenge was to come up with a solution to an everyday problem and share it on Twitter. The winner was Siobhán Andrews with her interactive, chopping board concept, Chop-Syc. The team at Sharp Labs liked it so much that they decided to turn the concept into a reality and build a prototype with Andrews during her internship. Humans Invent paid a visit to Sharp Labs to document the final two week's work on the product, which turns out to be as impressive as the original concept. Utilizing Sharp LCD technology the board is embedded with a digital touch-sensitive screen that is hooked up to Wi-Fi. Intended to simplify healthy cooking and portion control, the Chop-Syc has inbuilt scales to weigh the ingredients for a particular recipe – both the recipe and weight are displayed on the screen which is also used as a chopping board. A clever feature is the ability to type in the number of people you intend to cook for and the recipe portions automatically scale up or down to match the required amount. There are other ways of making sure you are cooking the right amount. For example, if you are cooking spaghetti a circle pops up that shows how much spaghetti, when held upright, is needed – the size of the circle changes according to the amount of people that need to be fed. Check out the video Humans Invent made with Sharp of the making of the Chop-Syc and let us know your thoughts. Would you buy one? For more information go to HumansInvent.com.

Imagine you could draw musical instruments on normal paper with any pencil (cheap circuit thumb-tacked on) and then play them with your finger. The Drawdio circuit-craft lets you MacGuyver your everyday objects into musical instruments: paintbrushes, macaroni, trees, grandpa, even the kitchen sink... One day I bought a "harmonium" kit at the street market in Bangalore. I hacksawed the keyboard off to make the first ever Drawdio circuit. We played with it at a local school in the slums using plants, water, our foreheads, etc. My friend told me graphite would work too. Meditating on it, I realized the Drawdio circuit should be literally attached to a pencil to "draw audio," and that's where the name came from: Draw + Audio. DIY: Make it. Remix it. Play it.
