Shot in performance at Ottawa's Arts Court on 8 November 2014, this re-envisioning of Shakespeare's play uses only the events involving Lady Macbeth to tell the story of the rise and fall of Macbeth's queen. The action is set in medieval India and makes use of the expressions and gestures of Kathakali, a 17th century dance-theatre tradition from Kerala State in SW India. For background on the piece, see "Background to Anjali's Lady Macbeth"

                  from Robert Appleton Added

Robert Appleton's vorTEX creates visual music as a multimedia language of image sound and text (the three essential components of human communication) formed as one with technology. This short excerpt inspired by Kate Fleetwood's incredible rendition of Shakespeare's Macbeth from 2010 was improvised in Toronto in 2014. It was performed live at ArraySpace with Jason Doell's untitled composition for Maria Karam's sensory instrument Emoti-Chair, which allows the deaf to hear through physical vibration. Appleton improvised this visual response using his proprietary software vorTEX, which is further enhanced by Kate Fleetwood's impassioned words, demonstrating the power of multimedia and vorTEX as a single language of communication.
