    Festival-goers made the most of one of the shortest nights of the summer at the 7th annual Festival of the Moon! They enjoyed delicious food, great music from NBC The Voice's Tony Lucca and the best handcrafted beers supplied by Bell's Brewery! At the 13th annual Festival of Sun brings fine wines were paired with tasty tapas, cold brews and Lansing's best local entertainment. Festival-goers enjoyed wine tasting, local food sampling and live music from Those Willows, Sabertooth Fiancee, Empty Orchestra, Elliot Street Lunatic and Frontier Ruckus.

                Helene Jean Bytwerk (May 27, 1928 - October 9, 2012) Age 84, went home to be with The Lord, Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Helene was born May 27, 1928, in Muskegon, Michigan the daughter of Henry and Helen (Oberg) Kieft. She has been a resident of the Lansing area since 1968 where she moved from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Helene drove for Special Transportation which later became Dean Transportation for 20 years. She was a member of South Church for over 30 years. A loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Although she enjoyed many things, her heart belonged to her family, especially her grandchildren. Grandma enjoyed many hours on the bleachers watching her grandchildren in their numerous sporting activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad in 1999 and brother, Robert Kieft. Helene is survived by her children, Janice Bytwerk and Wayne (Diane) Bytwerk; grandchildren, Courtney, Kimberly, Ryan and Kayleigh Bytwerk. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and many friends. Video by James Bolinger

                      Glenn Pat McKennon (January 13, 1947 - October 2, 2012) Born January 13, 1947 in Flint, the son of Donald D. and Doris A. Callahan) McKennon, passed away, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Lansing at age 65. Glenn served in the US Army Reserves and graduated from Spring Arbor University. He was employed by the State of Michigan, M-DOT, Real Estate Division as an Appraiser. For many years he also owed McKennon Appraisal Company. Surviving is his mother, Doris McKennon, 2 sons: Dr. Ryan (Jaime) and Patrick (Jamie) and 3 grandchildren: Alex, Ben and Raegan McKennon. Also surviving is his former wife and lifetime friend Bobbie Roberts. Glenn enjoyed many things in life, including good friends and co-workers, and Grand Ledge and Spartan football. His loving family and many friends had a special appreciation for his grilling expertise. We all enjoyed the many wonderful grilled meals he cooked. Glenn's real passion was spending time with his sons as they grew up and as they grew to adults. Video by James Bolinger
