Written and performed by Tanya Holt. Illustrated by Vincent Kilbride. Drums by Terl Bryant. A little girl, 454, leaves her English home to be sent to a convent in Belgium in the 1970s. The anger and cruelty shown to the children by the nuns and the physical sensation of a broken heart are remembered and shared by some of the other children who were also sent to be 'cared' for by the Catholic church. Such an experience doesn't leave you as an adult, but it doesn't have to make the rest of your life a living hell either! I am a London based songwriter, looking for opportunities to write for other people and to have others put video to my music. I have just written a new album of songs and this is the first of several illustrated videos from it.

In the wake of the 2004 tsunami a woman strives to expand the children’s home she has built. New children join those orphaned by war and extreme poverty, they learn from one another and help each other heal – forming bonds that bridge the ethnic gap, creating a new life in which they are all brother and sister. Their beacon of hope is Nandarani Devi, the children call her Amma. Nandarani Devi has taken children from both sides of Sri Lanka’s ethnic war and is raising them as brothers and sisters - and in doing so is raising the hope for that country’s future. The story is told by “Amma” and her daughter, Shree Rangani, who speaks eloquently of her mother’s work, how the children take care of one another, and how children orphaned by the tsunami differ from children orphaned by war.

Laurie Anderson is often described as a performance artist. But that captures only a small slice of her life's work. Anderson has made paintings, created films, recorded a song that became a pop hit, written poetry invented instruments and served as a NASA artist in residence. She has also described herself as an anthropologist, studying the reactions her work generates.

Talk Normal was one of the highlights at this year's SXSW. The duo cook up some pulverizing Laurie Anderson meets Liars post-everything rock and roll, and yet they are the sweetest people you will ever meet.
