In 2011, the NYTimes Lens Blog ran a feature on my photos from "Living with the Enemy" and an interview about my new domestic violence work. It mentioned my desire to meet more people who have left abusive relationships. That's how I discovered Margo, the battered wife of a successful east coast surgeon. I flew to San Francisco to meet Margo and her daughters to learn more about how she overcame the controlling influence of her ex husband and created the life she wanted for herself and her daughters.
