        • The Lost City of Petra

          from Jean-Philippe Angers Added 53 2 0

Deep in the heart of the Arabian Desert, lies a hidden, ancient realm shrouded in mystery and paradox. For over a thousand years, this wearied kingdom sat hidden from the world, empty and silent save for the delicate sand being swept across its ghostly passages. The quiet solitude of a forgotten empire echoes through the narrow canyons, as sits waiting to be awoken from her deep slumber. In 1812, her moment of awakening arrives. Since being rediscovered by the modern world, we have been humbled by our misconceptions about this city of stone. A barren landscape once thought to be merely a hollow city of tombs, was in fact, a wealthy, thriving metropolis. And despite sitting in the middle of one of the most unforgiving climates in the world, they skillfully harnessed nature's most vital resource to create a lush, artificial oasis at the crossroads of international trade. For over 400 years, this city of contradictions flourished as a symbol of ingenuity and power before finally succumbing to the sandstorms of time. This is the Lost City of Petra. The making of this short documentary was quite a struggle because of the very short time I had to film. Being a video producer on a cruise ship, we only get a few hours to visit the site... and trust me Petra is huge! You really need a week to capture everything properly. I've been fortunate enough to visit all 7 world wonders, but I put Petra on top of my list! From a first perspective it just looks like nice old stonework, but as I got deeper and deeper into its history and mystery surrounding it, I became fascinated by this lost city. The narration was written by my lovely partner and wife Sharyn Umana, and the voiceover is by Martin Lawson. Technical specs: Shot with Sony A7s, Canon 5Dk3 and Canon 550D. Miller Tripod, Manfrotto 502HD head

Here is my first film experiment with the parallax effect and about the abandoned buildings. It's not quite perfect. But think it is on track. And it makes a lot of fun. More films are being planned. Pushes the button HD, for the better quality. And I hope you like the movie.

                  from Connor Hoffmann Added 9 0 0

In my Principles of Screen Design class at SCAD, we had to make an animatic, choosing between two storylines: a story about a lost dog, or a couple who doesn't remember each other in the beginning, middle, or end of the story. I went with the first option. Because I didn't know how to use or had access to ToonBoom Storyboard Pro back at that time, I had to make this animatic using Photoshop CS6. For sound effects, I had to use iMovie, because it had a sound effect library. When the animatic had ended, I've been given a good response of loud laughter due to its rather dark, yet comedic ending. I hope you enjoy!

This video was made in the 90’s showing Jermaine Jackson and Theresa Rhodes working together in the recording studio and it was assembled with Red Cross images of the war in Sarajevo as well as footage showing the Rwanda exodus following the genocide in that country. The video was deemed “too sad” to go public so little use was made of it during the promotion tour in Germany (1995) that followed and it was finally shelved. In 2015, Theresa Rhodes team finally published this "lost" music video.
