When I first rode the MT09 i could not believe how easy it was to ride, So versatile !.So much power, but so easy to ride smoothly. Would make a great work bike, stunt bike, race bike, cruise bike... actually great for almost anything !. So impressed I was with its versatile, adaptable ways I decide to build the films idea around those points. I wanted to show the bike actually doing what impressed me so much when I first rode it. We shot this film using the RED EPIC. ( my weapon of choice for so many reasons as well ) Its another versatile & adaptable bit if kit. lenses used where all canon ranging from 14mm to 600mm. Reason for using CANON Glass over my ZIESS PL mounted glass is that I get bigger range of lens choices as well as its faster to use Canon glass that PL.

Bit of fun for the weekend, And old friend asked me to shoot a music video clip for his boys... We ended up having 14 hours to shoot I don't know how many shots?. Hundreds ! I gave the RED DRAGON camera a real work out in some very hot conditions. It didn't miss a beat. We didn't use a single bit of fill light or bounce, and didn't really need to as the DRAGON sensor has so much latitude now. I could shoot backlit without any silhouetting or loss of high light information, or have any contrast issues at all. There is so much information in the grading suite to play with...you now have so much creative freedom to explore many different looks. ! Its amazing to be able to shoot and collect what your actually see with your own eyes. Another reason for shooting this clip was to see if I can still have a 100% laptop workflow using the heavier 6k DRAGON fils via FCPX. Simple answer... yes you can. Transcoding is still slow but luckily not that slow now as CPU rendering has speed things up. I transcoded everything over night while I slept. It was all ready and waiting the next morning. Regardless of the tech talk. The Band JTR / John, Tom and Robyn are a really nice bunch of boys. I wish them all the best with their music career.

This was one of those projects that could have been a nightmare to produce, but ended up being the complete opposite. Great clients to work with, very trusting, which helped dramatically durring the edit & post process. I've never been a huge fan of time-lapse, but thought if I was to do time lapse I'd try and do it differently such as combining the use 3D to enhance it, giving us the illusion of longer durations during the building process. Thank you to 7SUNDAY film production for the project and FIN DESIGN for some amazing post post production.

Yamaha Australia gave me brand new WR450F's, 4 great riders and left me to do my thing. The basic story (actual real story) is about 4 friends that used to ride and hang out with each other as kids, They reunite atop there favorite hill and riding area years later. We shot this in New Zealand in the town of Queenstown. Using the RED EPIC 5k cameras and the SHOTOVER gyro helicopter system with my old mate Alfie Speight as pilot, And Queenstowns best First AD Mark (the Goat) Gillings. Music was created by RAF at Jarsonic. http://www.jarsonic.com/

These are some of the Aerial rushes from a TVC we were shooting in Southern New Zealand. Shooting with the RED EPIC 5k camera inside a SHOTOVER stabilised camera system with a 24-290 Angenieux Lens. We shot all of this aerial footage in less than 3 hours. As most of our principle shooting was on the ground. While in transit from Queenstown to different parts of the the south island, we shot these images on our journey between locations. The southern parts of NEW ZEALAND are amazing. Here is the TVC we shot and directed with John Lamble for Pulse Marketing, for Natural Gas Australia. https://vimeo.com/65805226

Indonesia based production company Se7en Sunday films approached Mark Toia and Cutting Edge to create a fully CG commercial to launch the new Mazda CX5. Created almost entirely from one's and zero's inside a black box in a dark room, the 30 second TVC features a CG city and car.

VFX prevized the entire commercial in just over a week, complete with city buildings, animated car and dynamic camera moves. A style frame that used new software technology for rendering of photo realistic environments was used. Jeff headed to Jakarta to film the car interior and people in a studio shoot to later incorporate into city streets. The finale features a CG animated cloud being pulled apart to reveal a lush blue sky.
