Teaser for the final presentation of the MAI Master in Advanced Interaction research project about evolution of portrait. Hyportraits is a research project and an interactive installation that take a look into the phenomena of collaborative creation, developed under the Research Studio of the Advanced Interaction Master 2014 at IAAC Barcelona. As a social experiment Hyportraits merge faces from two different people and creates a new virtual identity from them. An experiment of visual creation that teach us how the image’s role is changing to adapt itself to the new challenges of the advanced information society, where the portrait is not anymore a simple capture of a person in a fraction of time, but a complex visual result that can transform itself in real time and evolve to create infinite possibilities, adapt itself to different individual environments and be a complex package of data. The experiment propose the participant to question the fact of being sharing its identity with another person and that it playing at the same time two roles: be observed and be the observer. At the end, a visual experience that allows people interact each other in a simple way and allow them to be creators and critics of the image in the information society. How it works? The system captures the color, light and shadow information of people's faces using two web cams, then using the Qhull algorithm calculate points on the face an connect them trough a triangulation mesh that produce the final visual outcome. An algorithm that tries to found common proportions on the images and merged them together to create a new portrait. At the end an unexpected visual result, that tries to find in the error an opportunity for multi-creation.
