6 humans, 14 days & 13 nights spent in a 30 foot long, 10 foot wide and 12 foot high RV. The adventure began in soggy Seattle, Richie Carroll joined the team which meant we had to drive the monster through the Sea Tac (airport) pick up, shortly after we almost lost a wing mirror to a lazily parked road worker. First stop, WALMART! Loaded up on pellet guns, sleeping bags, pillows, beer and an assortment of fluro beanies we head for the summit, Stevens Pass. Too late for a powered site we made do in the second car park. Rookie error #1, having the heater on full the first night, it lasted until mid night and we all froze by the morning. For three days we explored the endless side country of Stevens Pass, most of our time was devoted to Hollywood bowl with it's many features and the legendary Wu-tang booter. On the third evening we headed southward and somehow made it all the way to Mt Hood by the early hours of the morning. Waking up to a foot of fresh was energizing and we all thrashed out our cabin fever with as many sprays, slashes, turns and cut backs as we could. We were all yelling and whistling like a bunch of sugar high kids on an easter egg hunt. Next up Portland, this was supposed to be a day off and a touch of shopping, by mid day there was half a foot of fresh in the city and by the evening it was pretty much an unspoken agreement that we better make the most of it and find something to hit downtown. I should also mention by this stage the black water (sewerage) pipe had frozen and we were unable to dump our black capsule of goodness, the unfortunate consequence of this rookie error #2 meant that we had raw poo's and wee's leaking back into the RV while we sloshed (pun very much intended) through snow ridden Portland traffic. This became a massive problem and was only solved much later with a heat gun and the onboard generator. Next up, Mt Baker. Just in time for the legendary banked slalom. Jake & Richie witnesses Terje doing a method out of a burn, this was the talk of the evening. More so than any old olympics that may have been blaring from the TV at Graham's restaurant, while we inhaled several of the best pulled pork sanga's north of Seattle. We were a couple days too early to Mt Baker for a storm that bought a couple metres of snow, hind sights a bitch. McCarthy spear headed our last ditch attempt at a productive last day and once more we careened through the night back to Stevens Pass where we knew our way around and the snow was falling hard.

Geraldton has been visited by the Queen. Well not really, but Queen Elizabeth II did visit our then little town in 1954 and we have the footage to prove it. Kevin Parsons has recently transferred his Mother’s standard 8 footage that captured that unique day where the Queen arrived via boat to our shores. Kevin remembers his Mum was very passionate about her photography. She used to get around town capturing various events and timeless moments around the Mid West. Kevin was 19 years the day the Queen arrived to Geraldton. Kevin was out bush chopping wood for their daily hot water, while his Mum was out capturing the event. After watching his Mother’s footage Kevin now knows what he missed out on. Kevin states this footage has not been seen by anyone, possibly not even his Mum who shot it. He is more than happy to share this footage with everyone and thinks it’s very important to value history, particularly for the younger generation where they can get a glimpse of what it was like to live back in those days. For me personally, I love to discover these special moments in time, I think we can learn a lot from our past, and with footage like this we can reminisce on how young and beautiful the Queen was. Oh, ahem and still is! While watching the footage I wondered if the Queen had to go through customs and present her passport? - Probably not.
