The Upper Jalacingo in Veracruz is one of the jewels of Mexico. There are so many great runs it's hard to nail down just one jewel. You'll want a guide to make your day down Upper Jah under 4 hours and a good time. Many of Jalacingo's 6-7 portages aren't obvious and it is not advised, missing one. There are so many slides and drops it would easily take all day to get through the Upper's rapids.

Voices of the River (cureriver.org/voices) This oral history project is focused on recording the stories of the people who stepped up, spoke out, took action and joined forces with others to address water quality issues facing the Minnesota River. The intent is to inspire a new generation of advocates by recording how the movement to clean up the Minnesota River got started, what it has accomplished and where it is going. Copies of the complete oral history transcripts will be archived at the Minnesota Historical Society. They will also be posted here with the corresponding blog story. The project has been made possible by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on November 4, 2008. Administered by the Minnesota Historical Society. It is also supported by matched donations made to Clean Up the River Environment (CURE). The director of the project is Anne Queenan, writer of accompanying blog stories and videographer/producer of the clips featured here.
