When surrealism hits the surfing scene, the best thing you've got to do is watch an "Expencive Porno Movie." Surf movies are getting very experimental. Forget classic Hollywood angles, high-tech video effects, contemporary editing and mainstream soundtracks. Today, everything's a lab. "Expencive Porno Movie" was shot entirely on Super 16mm, and that is why you'll notice that grainy look in every surf move, for 45 minutes. Tin Ojeda, the director behind this 1970s-esque surf flick, got the inspiration from Quentin Tarantino's approaches. The final result focus on West Coast surfing, with an indie East Coast look. "Expencive Porno Movie" features Dane Peterson, Kassia Meador, Alex Knost, JJ Wessels, Mikey DeTemple, Trevor Gordon, Kyle Albers, Devon Howard, Justin Adams, Scotty Stopnik, Jared Mell, and Ryan Burch.

          • "Shadows of the Same Sun" Recut, reloaded

Shadows recut by the Director Thomas W Brookins in black & white tones. After Hurricane Sandy Destroyed most of Rockaway Beach where Thomas Brookins lives and has his offices, the original and back up files were destroyed by the storms wrath. Inside his home all of the printed DVD's were either lost or crushed in the devastation. like everyone else on the coastlines his home filled with sand & gushing water in a little over 3 minutes from the storm surge. Very few copies survived & none good enough to rip for a rebuild. Almost anything saved or stored was a complete loss. Hoping to someday release this film on a broader scale, Thomas let it go & embraced the loss. Hundreds of hours building the film all washed away. This was the self taught production born out of love for his community & surfing not knowing that it would ignite his career in film. Teaching himself how to set up a camera, makeshift lighting then on to editing in his home all on an estimated budget of roughly $80.00. The film won him Best Directorial Debut of 2010 at the NY international Film Festival, honored with opening & closing the New York Surf Film Festival and later used as a headlining film for S.M.A.S.H. Films and Waves For Water to raise money for Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts even though he is still rebuilding his home a year after the hurricane hit. Thomas found a scratched up drive in the corner of the basement & wiped it off, plugged it into his laptop & found Shadows still functioning as a back up. Piecing this with bits from other files stored on a still functioning desktop before the screen went blue, he rebuilt Shadows with a small twist in color to remind him of the dark day in October that forced all of the residents on the Rockaway Peninsula in NYC to ban together & rebuild their town. Please visit www.fireandwaterthemovie.com & support the newest in the line of historical documentaries for writer director Thomas W. Brookins Thank you, from the E.V.P. Staff.
