End of September 2014 photojournalist Daniel van Moll traveled to Liberia to cover the outbreak of Ebola and the situation on the ground on assignment for the German newspaper BILD. The video gives insight to the enormous work of international health organizations like Doctors Without Borders who are operating the biggest Ebola Treatment Unit but also shows the struggle state health workers are experiencing while fighting the virus. Daniel visited the Ebola treatment unit of Doctors Without Borders in Monrovia where hundreds of volunteers provide help for Ebola infected patients. But he also visited rural counties in Liberia where international help did not yet arrive. But Daniel also focused on the social impact of the recent outbreak and visited a church in Monrovia to film the community trying to seek relief in their belief. Daniel van Moll, a documentary photographer with a focus on travel, features, humanitarian crises and conflict, was born in Duesseldorf, Germany in 1978 and is currently based in Munich, Germany and San Francisco, United States. Before Daniel shifted his focus on photojournalism, he had worked on a variety of international television formats and is currently looking back on about twelve years of experience in producing and directing documentaries and long-term productions. Among his clients were NBC Universal, ARD, ZDF, RTL, SAT1, VOX and Discovery Channel. As a photographer he has worked almost all over the United States and has also spent a decade working with NGOs on six continents. Within the last eight years he traveled a dozen different African countries, documenting humanitarian projects and the work of nonprofit organizations. In 2013 Daniel made conflict, post-conflict and humanitarian crises the core of his work. He covered the street riots in Turkey (June 2013), the turmoil in Egypt (August 2013), the unrest in Ukraine and Crimea (2014), the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo / DRC (March 2014), the war on Cocaine in Colombia (June 2014) the war in Gaza (July 2014) and the Ebola outbreak in Liberia (September 2014). He has been published in international newspapers, magazines, news sites and books including TIME Magazine (US), Newsweek (US), stern Magazine (Germany), BILD (Germany), The Guardian (UK), The Irish Times (Ireland), NBC (US), Sueddeutsche Zeitung (Germany), Focus (Germany) and others. He has been awarded with the Grimme Online Award, the Focus Project People’s Choice Award and has been shortlisted multiple times for the annual LifeFramer award with exhibitions in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Iraq.
