                    No Child Left Behind, following the lead of the Office of Management and Budget's definition of racial groups, created a subgroup called Black Students. Linguists defined the English language into different dialects or vernacular Englishes like the English spoken in the South, English spoken in the North, and local English like Boston, MA, and Trenton, NJ. The English taught in the school system is called either Standard English or Academic English. African American Vernacular English, which has been recently defined by Dr. John McWhorter of Harvard University as "hybrid of regional dialects of Great Britain that slaves in America were exposed to because they often worked alongside the indentured servants who spoke those dialects..." Dr. Alejandro Brice, 2012-2014 Chair of the Multicultural Issues Board of American Speech Language Hearing Association shares his thoughts on how children who speak different variations of English like AAVE may fall into the achievement because they have not learned Academic English.
