http://www.flickr.com/photos/80194171@N08/sets/72157630067892422/ - this is a link to my Flickr to see some screens of things I was doing. I will be adding more to it as soon as I can. Please read the entire text !! It's not that long :) Project Proposal: I am proposing to rescore the video flux as I interpret it. I see a shape getting larger and more fractal as the video goes on. I plan on using something quiet and ambient to start with almost a minimalistic approach to the soundscape and sound set. As the video goes on, I intend on creating a denser soundscape with an emphasis more on the sounds of the shape transforming instead of background. I feel that crisp, clear, and controlled sounds for the beginning melting into chaotic, bit-crushed, noise-filled, static, aggressive type sounds. I plan on accomplishing this with a small amount of samples, if any at all, from my own library with emphasis on Ableton Live 8 and NI’s Massive. The way I see it, the shape is at a distance, you become one with the shape as it passes through you and then you are at a distance again. A herd of buffalo at a distance, a stampede that you are in the middle of and then they pass you would be a good example. This project will mainly be a study in wave table and grain table synthesis. Notes/Discussion: For this project, I did a study in wavetable synthesis via Native Instrument’s Massive. I loaded up the video in Ableton and got to work on creating my sounds. I began by designing the atmosphere, which from my point of view, is a shape-shifting shape in a sterile environment if you will. Through out the entire piece there is a simple chord being held down which is a C and G# and then with all the complexity of the synth patch and hours and hours of automation I created an environment/atmosphere that I was content with. When I say hours and hours of automation I literally mean that I have spent roughly the same amount of time going over the automation than I did designing the actual synth patches. I took a somewhat unorthodox approach by not doing a cue sheet. I felt it unnecessary because I just watched the video and made sounds for what I seen, one at a time. When I make cue sheets, I tend to write too many things on it, which causes me to feel overwhelmed and hinders my workflow. Had this been for a client I would most certainly have done a cue sheet. The sounds were made more or less in the order you hear them whilst being played. I feel that I came close to my original goal stated in my proposal however there is never enough time in the day and my projects get done but I feel them never finished. The entire sound palette was created via NI’s Massive and one whispered word at the beginning. The intent was to do a study in wave table synthesis much like Aguado Dionisio has composed a piece titled study in Am, in this case my Am is a wave table synth. I had to limit myself to a common theme or item and the WT synth was my limit. At first you might think, well you have a synth you can make any sound you want, and that might be true but since you can make almost any sound that limit seems a bit more daunting. Not only does it make it a more monumental task since there are just some things you can not do with a synth. All in all I spent a lot of time on it and I hope you enjoy my work. P.S. I DID NOT CREATE THE VIDEO ALL RIGHTS TO SOLE OWNER ( see links at the end of video)

                      What are Tags?

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
