Found on ebay: A vintage record dealer auctioning a copy of one of Rev. Branch's earliest recordings, "Mother Don't Worry About Me," recorded as "Ray Branch and His Guitar" on his own Branch Bros. Records. The seller included a brief portion of the song and a photograph of the A-side label, and here they are. If anyone out there has this record, Rev. Branch would very much appreciate a complete copy of both sides in any format. Hear a later recording of the same song, decades later: http://reverendbranch.blogspot.com/2014/05/mother-dont-worry-about-me.html

Another reason I love Rev. Branch: Sunday saw only $4 in the Heavenly Rainbow collection basket, which almost immediately left in the hands of two needy people. Rev. Branch's response? Gratitude he was able to help at all. And a $4 Sunday offering doesn’t mean $4 is all the Church will spend this week; it just means the rest will come out of his pocket. And she was trying to get a fax… Not a fax, a copy. I said no, we don’t have the machine (hooked up) for that today – this is Sunday, yesterday. "Okay. I gave her a couple dollars, I told her I’m sorry I can’t help you any more (than this), but go get you something to eat. Then I got to the gas station to get me some gas in my car. There’s a lady up there asked me if I had a cell phone, she wanted to call her daughter, supposedly she’s out of gas. So I wind up giving her two dollars (chuckles). So that was my gift for yesterday – a four-dollar gift. And I probably had about $12 in my pocket when I did that, ’cause we didn’t have nobody show up yesterday. Two or three people showed up yesterday for church. Ain’t nobody showed up! "What little money we get on Sundays, that little 12 or 20, 30 dollars we get on Sunday, we didn’t get it this past Sunday. But the Lord fixed it so I was able to give these two ladies two dollars each. And I said, 'Lord, that’s my gift for today.' "I went on home and had me a TV dinner, and I had a good meal at home. So the Lord blessed me anyway. "Just one of those things, Wyatt. You got to make sure that the Lord is in the plan. So that’s the way we’re gonna operate, that way."
