Dropped in the water on a pinnacle off Cocos Island ,I was waiting for the dive group to gather to go in the underwater cathedral like cave and I noticed some white tipped sharks gathering on the pinnacle wall in 75 fsw. Moving slowly towards them so as not to disrupt the shark activity, I was able to film the white tipped sharks and Jacks attacking a fish. With tipped sharks normally feed at night so this daytime feeding frenzy really caught my eye .I was just at the right place at the right time. Shot with available light with a nikonos 15mm wideangle lens and a urpro red filter. Sony nex5n in a nauticam housing

        • Goliath Grouper: A Protected Species…for Now

*** 2012 1st Place Winner at the 1st Annual Underwater Video Contest by Anchor Ocean Rover's Dive Club!!*** The Goliath grouper has been a "Critically Endangered" species for about 20 years. In the last 5 years there has been consideration to lift the ban on hunting the species due to an increase in their numbers. However, the population has not recovered to what they classify as "no longer threatened." I intended this video to shed light on how fragile the marine ecosystem is and how quickly a species can be wiped out. We may never see in our lifetime their populations recover to what they were in the 1800s. We can protect them for our future generations through continued conservation efforts and public awareness. Filmed off of Key West, FL using the Sony Nex 5n with the Nikonos 15mm wide angle lens and Sola 1200 lights. Enjoy!

Shot with the Sony Nex 5n which has an ISO of 3600 on Auto video setting. This is my best film to date on available light in 50 fsw. Coupled with a Nikonos 15mm wide angle lens, the depth of field really shows the thousands of snapper schooling for the spawn.

Here is a short video shot using a Nikonos 15mm lens on my NEX-5N and homemade housing. This lens works great and the image quality seems superior to the Sea and Sea lens used in my previous test. It was also my grandson's first experience using scuba equipment.
