I had the great fortune to travel to Dallas, TX at the end of October and while I was there I checked out the Occupy Dallas protests. As with the Occupy Wall Street interviews I have conducted, I want to provide an outlet for what the Occupiers are saying about their movement and its message. To have heard about this movement developing nationally and globally, and then to see the same themes and ideas being discussed over 1,500 miles away is really quite incredible. The interview is raw, so please excuse any poor camera moves or technical deficiencies. Also, please highlight any statements you really like by commenting with an approximate timecode (Vimeo will create a link to that part of the video).

The Occupy Albany Vacant Homes Committee recently spent an afternoon walking through some of the most decimated communities in Albany, NY speaking to neighbors and organizing. Taking the #occupy movement into the next phase, the group led by Ira and Sandra McKinley walked through Arbor Hill and the South End connecting with some of the people most affected by the current system of economic and social injustice. This short piece is part of a larger feature length film titled The Throwaways. Produced by Ira McKinley, directed by Bhawin Suchak. An economist says 'more for you is less for me.' But the lover knows that more of you is more for me too. If you love somebody their happiness is your happiness. Their pain is your pain. Your sense of self expands to include other beings. This shift of consciousness is universal in everybody, 99% and 1%." Grace was involved in extensive Civil Rights and Black Power Movement activism in Detroit in partnership with husband and black autoworker, James Boggs (1919-93) and together they founded the Boggs Center to nurture and devolop community leaders.
