1. Community Forum on the Legal Consequences of Proposition 26

    On Nov. 1, 2011, the University of Mississippi School of Law hosted a panel of legal and medical experts to explain the possible ramifications of Proposition 26, a constitutional amendment that would grant the rights of a person to the all fertilized eggs, embryos and fetuses. The panel included law professor Michele Alexandre, who teaches feminist legal theory and civil rights law; obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Wayne Slocum also head of the Mississippi section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; Cristen Hemmins, parent and plaintiff for the case to keep 26 off the ballot, and Feder-Hosey, a third year law student.
