For the March 2010 issue of Boards Magazine, Emily Gobeille and I worked with Nexus Productions to develop an interactive cover experience called Rise and Fall. Here is a little preview of the experience. You can download the software and the cover from: http://boardsmag.com/RiseAndFall Update: Found out you can buy a copy of the magzine for $7 by emailing - BoardsCustomerCare@boardsmag.com . You can also download the cover as a pdf from the link above. The project uses the Ferns library for tracking ( http://cvlab.epfl.ch/software/ferns/index.php ) and the whole project is open source released under the GPL v2.0 . Box2D polygon using openCV Blob data. Did a little bit awkward hack to stop box2d assertion. At b2Settings.h, before #include , place #define NDEBUG. This video uses the concept of a "tape loop delay" applied to video. A tape loop works by putting the record head and play head both on the same tape, slightly apart. This is mixed with the live sound, creating an echo of the sound. When spinning the tape fast, multiple echo's are recorded, each fading out by becoming erased on each cycle by the recording head a little, a property of the magnetic tapes, where each new recording doesn't entirely erase the previous one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tape_loop This concept is applied to video: each frame is processed until only colored contours remain. If enough contours are detected, the frame is added to a buffer. The buffer is mixed in with the live feed, masking parts of the live feed. This means that if the "tape is full" nothing can be recorded since no contours can be found. Each frame added to the buffer moves a previous frame to a lower position. The lower the position, the less the frame is used to mask the live input, until it finally disappears. The decay rate the buffer can be controlled dynamically, allowing to "reset" the buffer entirely by feeding new frames. This program was made using python and opencv

This is a preview of the demo application for my final year project, demonstrating dragging and dropping as well as scaling and rotation of an object. In the video, the gesture recognition is delayed because of the screen recording that takes up CPU cycles. Stay tuned for more and make sure to post your ideas in the comments ... Done using openFrameworks, openCV. Written in C++.
