ATTITUDE. Cape Town Sebastian Klemm with Agnete Beierholm, Alphabet Zoo, Asanda Kaka, Fin Futcha, Isaac Zavale, Jeannie Klockenbring, Kai Lossgott, Khanyisile Mintho Mbongwa, Lindokuhle Nkosi, Masello Motana, Minenkulu Ngoyi, Nkuli Mlangeni, Thembalethu Mlokoti, Zohra Opoku Website Online Participation: www.attitude.ws The Africa Centre has invited ATTITUDE. to its annual site-specific public arts festival “Infecting The City” from 12th – 16th March 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa. Sebastian Klemm will present ATTITUDE. together with young adults and artists from South Africa, Denmark and Germany as a participatory performance-installation that welcomes visitors and passers-by as key figure into its staging, representation and meaning. ATTITUDE. is being depicted through two neighboring performers in shattered circumstances of life, urging for change. Each performer ́s squirming movements, silence or words are accompanied by individual soundtracks that may be amplified or weakened by the public and audience, when actively relocating flag poles among the performers. - How do we perceive the conditions of our fellow human beings? How may we change our preconceived opinions? What can we do to support one another? Humans and their behavior when faced with precarious situations, partly imposed by society, describe Sebastian Klemm’s artistic dedication. His latest staging „point blank / the initiation“ and the subsequent performance-installation „ATTITUDE.“ start from human being ́s that are affected by a strong restriction, a ‚locked-in’ condition, a burden imposed by life or one ́s self, of which humans are able to free themself, because of their ability to self-condition. Stemming from his upbringing in the GDR as well as his background in architecture, Sebastian Klemm develops his characteristic approach to performance art. From the beginning and throughout the entire process, each of his projects is based on the creative exchange, dedication and interaction of all joined contributors. Their multitude and polychromatic attitudes effect and evolve the final character of each speculative project. Yet, each project requires the audience to be participative, to complete the piece. 03:58

                    from Zohra Opoku / Added

When reigning world champion Karsten Kretschmer a.k.a. “The Gladiator” enters into intensive contact improvisation with dancer “Trini, the Trinity”, it will be an unequal fight with an uncertain outcome – and wrestling and dance fuse together in Yolanda Gutiérrez’s latest piece. The Mexican choreographer, who lives in Hamburg, combines contemporary dance with the Mexican form of wrestling ‘Lucha Libre’. Two dancers and two wrestlers compete against each other. Each of them has developed two superhero identities– this results in a diverse range of spectacular combinations, in which physical strength does not necessarily win the battle. Viktor Marek provides musical accompaniment for the show, in the form of live samples of the sounds being made by the fighters. Battle of the Arts presenter Michel Abdollahi is also stepping into the ring to guide the audience through this bold mixture of sport, theatre, athletics, choreography and virtuosity. Only one thing’s for certain – at the end of the evening there can only be one winner. Concept, Choreography, Direction and Film: Yolanda Gutiérrez
