                51:34

                from ASERL Added

The University of Oregon (UO) Libraries and Oregon State University Libraries & Press (OSULP) have a successful four-year collaborative partnership around digital collection management. Both institutions have undertaken efforts to support and create emerging trends with digital scholarship and publishing individually, and have collaborated where advantageous. Efforts include exploring tools, services, and the future of publishing in the digital age. The UO Libraries recently completed a needs assessment and environmental scan of digital scholarship support. This exercise led to the creation of a new digital scholarship center, which evolved from digital library services. OSULP have updated and launched a new strategic plan, which enhances the organization’s efforts toward exploration, experimentation, and enriched support and are looking to hire a 3 - 5 year grant funded position to explore the future of publishing. Oregon’s pioneer nature is at the heart of the collaborative relationship between these two very different institutions, providing for a competitive yet collaborative spirit. Fundamental to a successful collaboration is an ability to address and evaluate new services, understanding that in order to be successful, collaboration and sharing is the cornerstone to survival. This presentation explores how these institutions have approached engaging with digital scholarship & publishing, collaboration, and outreach from Research I and Land Grant perspectives.
