Locavore, urban farmer and herbalist Lisa Rose Starner (Burdock & Rose) is seeking community investors in an upcoming clinical herbalism training with Natural Doctors International at their donation-based clinic in Ometepe, Nicaragua. This training will grow her skills as an herbalist and teacher so she can better connect more people to the land around them and empower them with the herbal skills that can add wellness to their lives. Lisa Rose Starner is working to connect people to the traditional lifeways of using herbs with her urban gardens -- she teaches people how to forage, cook with whole foods, garden and use local plants and herbs for herbal remedies. It's about people and wellness. It's about plants and caring for the land. It's about growing a community that has a rich relationship with plants that doesn’t just happen when they are sick, but a relationship that’s a needed — desired — part of their everyday lives.

Learn simple instructions to create a DIY bioponic garden using 55-gallon barrels, rainwater, and common plumbing parts.
