My wife and I were fly fishing with friend/guide Dean Whaanga in New Zealand when a combination of bad weather and good timing resulted in a fish giving us the experience of a lifetime. I crawled on my stomach with my camera to the water's edge, hit record, and watched what was one of the coolest moments I have ever witnessed. Thanks to Orvis for the support. The song is "Translation" by Tim McMorris.

It is hard to find mountain brook trout, spring creek rainbows and browns in such close proximity to some of the best smallmouth, carp, and musky fishing in the country. Twin brothers, Brian and Colby Trow, are natives of Virginia who took their love of fly fishing together and put it all on the line to 'live the dream' in the center of this unheralded fishing destination. More than 10 years and one nasty economic recession later, Brian and Colby understand the risks and costs of running a small business. Success comes with the price of long hours and being away from family, but it is time on the water together that keeps them connected. Selected for the 2014 Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T), the Rise Fly Fishing Film Tour (Europe), and the Rise Fly Fishing Tour (Australia/NZ). Blood Knot was also selected as the Best Film of the Year and Best Freshwater Film of the Year at the 2014 Drake Film Awards. Coming to fly shops near you in early 2015.

Last June, the Montana Wild crew was thirsty for some fly fishing. Black bear season was over but spring run-off most certainly was not, leaving few options for clear waters around Missoula. Zack, Travis and Sam decided to make the haul from Western Montana down to Eastern Oregon and check out a tiny, mysterious tailwater in the desert. This film is about a fly-flinging good time chasing some bucknasty brown trout who like to eat mice almost as much as mayflies. Look for it in the 2015 F3T Fly Fishing Film Tour! 'The River Keeper' The chalk rivers of Hampshire are known among the angling fraternity across the globe as the birth place of fly fishing - a mere mention of the name 'Test' or 'Itchen' conjures up images of balmy summer evenings, heavy spinner falls and gluttonous trout rising freely ... But what happens after October? When the game season ends and the trout start to think about digging redds instead of sipping emergers? This is the time that the keepers are busiest, improving the beats, preparing for the following season. Behind closed doors a lot goes on however even river keepers have to stay sane and so imitative fly fishing remains. Targeting twenty pound pike on the fly is no mean feat at the best of times but it's in the dead of winter that we realise exactly who is keeping the balance in these historic waterways. Words by: Jon Hall Featured in the 2014 F3T (UK) and the 2014 Rise film festival (UK)
