We recently had a Reverse - POV Rig built for a project we have in the mix. I managed to get some hand held footage with the 5D of the fabrication and when I went over it this weekend I decided to see if I could edit it into a short piece that would carry without VO or Interview content - you be the judge. A huge thanks to Craig and Spencer @ Weldaquip, Chilliwack B.C.

Artist Statement Ankle Eyes By: David Standish Wright Ankle Eyes is a digital short that involves both photography and film. In it, I experiment with point of view. My goal in this project was to toy with the idea of perspective in a very unique way. When I was still in the developmental stages of my concept, I was inspired by an ankle injury that I suffered during football this past September. During the final minutes of a game, I was taken to the ground in a large pile-up and my right ankle (the same one used in the filming of the video) was both broken and dislocated. The action happened so fast that it was impossible to tell how, exactly, enough torque was generated to cause that devastating of an injury. By using an odd perspective on the human body such as the ankle, I was able to capture routine, daily activities and convey them in an unusual light. Leading up to most of the different actions I tried to capture an interesting photograph. The aim of these pictures was to depict various textures from strange viewpoints of the actions to follow. When watching this video, I encourage you not to simply watch the actions take place, but to analyze the originality of the perspective.

A simple edit made to test my homemade 35mm adapter, and the POV V.I.O. Camera. Filmed in 720P HD, 24p. Edited in FCE. Song used in video: MGMT - Of moons, birds & monsters. Video has a lot of grain due to the focusing screen of the 35mm adapter. It needs to be replaced with a new focusing screen.
