Getting a license for a pumped storage facility is no easy business. To convince energy regulators, you need to make a truly compelling case -- demonstrating more than just a profit motive. Pumped storage works by storing off-peak energy and releasing it at peak times. Profits are made on fluctuating energy prices. However, with today's environmental challenges, you make your best case by demonstrating the connection with renewable power. Eagle Crest Energy Company needed to make just such a point. So they hired Maraizon International to develop a descriptive animation. The purpose? To clearly show how pumped storage increases the benefits of renewable power, such as solar and wind. Maraizon produced a 2.5-minute video, for distribution on the web and on DVD, which: Shows the "path of power" from clean energy sources to the project. Text captions add facts about renewable energy and pumped storage. An animated cross section demonstrates all features and functions of the project. Transitions show the project functioning day and night, peak and off peak. Energy from the project is shown going out to the grid. An animated map shows the area serviced by this facility. Eagle Crest Energy Company now uses this video as the centerpiece of its website. The animation is shown on DVD at public hearings and investor meetings to demonstrate the project benefits. Art Lowe, CEO of Eagle Crest Energy Company remarked: "Thank you Maraizon International. The animation you produced for Eagle Crest Energy Company is remarkable. We appreciate the professionalism and creativity of your team."+ More details

Since 1987, 196 countries ratified the Montreal Protocol, an international treaty to protect the ozone layer. This treaty set a global framework for phasing out the production of chemicals that destroy the ozone layer—ozone depleting substances (ODS). Although the production has stopped, these chemicals are continually recovered, reclaimed and recycled to service old equipment, from vehicle air conditioners to industrial chillers. In the process, thousands of pounds of ODS are inadvertently released into the atmosphere each year. Besides eating away at the ozone layer, they contribute to global warming with an impact ranging from several hundred to several thousand times that of carbon dioxide. If the ODS from your refrigerator is released to the atmosphere, it is equivalent to releasing more than 5,000 pounds of carbon dioxide or driving more than 5,200 miles.+ More details
