When The Spring Creeking Season hits with the rains and warm weather it kinda makes us a little crazy. A fever comes on that pulls us to the water and away from whatever was just previously important in life. Trying to catch storms and micro creeks at just the right level is half the battle. You have to be ready and have done your homework. These videos were all shot after work post 5pm rushing to the water falling down the mountains as fast as I could get there. Some days you get the goods some days you get busted. But you never know until you try. This Video highlights three of the best micro creeks within a one hour drive from home. They are all in Botetourt County, VA* and all on some of the 85K acres of National Forest within. Roaring Run Stone Coal Creek North Creek *Big Cove Branch, Balcony Falls, James River Wilderness VA National Forest.

      • Back Mount P.O.V. - Stability Test #3

        02:28

        from Ian Boyd Added

Over the past week I had the opportunity to field test a new multi-point back mount designed and built by a fellow P.O.V. camera enthusiast. In my quest to design and refine the perfect over-the-shoulder shot, this third generation back mount passed the wearability and stability test. This quick edit showcases the action I captured of friends and family around my hometown from July 5-12th. THE TEST: Determine what action sports and surface conditions are best suited for a wearable back mount. THE LOCATION: Marin County (biking, wake + skate) and San Francisco (kiteboarding + windsurfing). THE CAMERA: GoPro HD Hero2, 960p @ 48fps. GoPro CineForm Studio (free download) used to convert frame rates and and apply the "ProTune" filter. THE CONCLUSION: Shooting with slow motion camera settings (60fps or 48fps) will help minimize vibration and take the shake out of some shots. Since your body tends to be your best shock absorber and image stabilizer, chest and back mounts are ideal POV camera angles for capturing action over bumpy water or rocky terrain. TIP#1: Always try to maintain a level horizon whenever possible. There is nothing that will make people more nauseous and want to eject from watching a video than seeing a horizon that's constantly tweaking all over the place (This video is not a good example as there is too much back-to-back action from the same angle). TIP#2: Try to maintain a constant light source. Depending on your camera and its white balance settings, you should avoid shooting in contrasting lighting conditions. For example, mountain biking on a sunny day through partially shaded trees can pose a problem for a camera's auto white balance setting when quickly adjusting from harsh sun light to dark shady sections. TIP#3: Shooting multiple camera angles will help tell a better visual story. In general most POV shots are not intended to be watched continuously but rather compliment other camera angles to help engage viewers in the action/story. Since this video is a mixed bag of sports showcasing only one mount, it's not the best example for this tip. Related video: http://vimeo.com/41303338

How awesome would it be, if you would find a machine that could take you to another world. A world were you could become a trained fighting machine. But first you need to be trained, trained by a pro, trained by someone like Alfred! Our first fiction video. It's action and POV. Our goal is to create more video's like these. Make them with bigger crews and take them to a next level! Help us by sharing this video with your friends. And we will keep producing! • Kiteboarding P.O.V. - The Early Years

            03:32

I was fortunate to be on the island of Maui a few times with my point-of-view cameras (Sony SD hard wired gear - many years before GoPro HD cameras) during the early years of kiteboarding, 1999 - 2003. I've done very little with this footage since then (a few shots from the Columbia Gorge are sprinkled in there) so when I recently found a box of old mini-DV tapes, I decided to make a short edit of some highlights.

filming these guys "the Fuerza Oscura" was pure luck. i was walking up the beach with my helmetcam (yes, i looked like an idiot), and just walked into the ocean where they were riding. they saw my cam and just got totally into it; jumping directly over my head and all around me. then luis, the best rider in cabarete, took the cam for a spin for some really spectacular footage! thanks luis.
