"I would encourage any women to access support. There was nothing more powerful for me then meeting another positive women" The “From Pregnancy to Baby and Beyond” project is run by Positively UK in partnership with clinicians to help women living with HIV make informed choices and decisions around pregnancy, birth and the care of themselves and their babies. This includes a team of women called "Mentor Mothers", themselves living with HIV, who can provide care, knowledge and support for others. The film, made by social research and film-trainer, Dr Dominique Chadwick, highlights the key importance of peer network support, led by and for women living with HIV, through the pregnancy journey. If you would like to receive support and information or talk to someone else who has had a child whilst living with HIV then please call 020 7713 0444 and ask for Angelina or email anamiba@positivelyuk.org. The outcome of the 2012 Emerson Literacy Education and Empowerment Project can best be reflected in the words of the Emerson college undergraduate and graduate peer mentors. Peer Mentors are selected from a group of talented Emerson students to represent Emerson College and serve as mentors to young adults from Mattapan, Roxbury and Dorchester in Boston Massachusetts. The young adults who attend eLEEP do so as part of a peer leadership training program under the umbrella of the Boston Commission of Public Health. During their six weeks they are actively involved in learning about health and media literacy. By the end of the summer youth collaborate with their peer mentors on the creation of a short PSA using their new skills and knowledge.
