In the fourth installment of the Health Literacy Colloquium series, the panelists discuss the important role pharmacists can play in health literacy, what plain language means, and the role policy makers can play in health literacy. Pharmacists are some of the most accessible healthcare providers, but they also work in an area where health literacy is problem. Prescription labels are difficult for many people to understand, and misinterpreting the instructions can have serious consequences. At the Patient Education Library at Chandler Hospital, librarians work to help people understand their condition by using plain language, language that is clear and helps the patient focus on what they can do.
