In this installation, highly sensitive electrodes are connected between the leaves of the philodendron and a laptop computer. The electrodes and computer give “voice” to the plant, providing a sonic indicator of the plant’s electrical activity and its physiological response to its surroundings. Thus, people can approach the plant, and hear the plant’s response to their presence; as they move their hands around the plant at varying speeds, the plant’s responses are audible.

Watermelon Magic is a revolutionary film designed for children Pre-K through 5th grade that is set to release on the Giant Screens of science museums around the world in 2014. Weaving together documentary and fictional elements, Watermelon Magic chronicles a season on the family farm, as young Sylvie grows a patch of watermelons to sell at market. The film pairs high-resolution stills at varying shutter-burst frame rates with stunning time-lapse sequences to trace the journey from seed to flower to fruit. This clip is the longest time-lapse growing sequence of the film... now imagine it on the Giant Screen in 3D!
