Frustrated by a Voting ID maze, Bobby, an average college student, rallies friends to take a stand on the issues that impact their lives. In this episode, Bobby rides in on a #VoteEverywhere float at the 2012 NYC Pride Parade where he doles out fun and ballots. SIGN-UP http://www.meetup.com/VoteEverywhere Voter ID Laws? It's the same old story. Young people are systemically disenfranchised from their basic right to vote. New rules instituted, old laws returned, stories sliced and diced - nothing seems to change. It doesn't have to be this way... Heroes change the game. When you vote here, she votes there and we vote everywhere -- everything changes. KNOW what it takes to vote in your state, INFORM your communities, IGNITE your friends and VOTE! Vote Everywhere, a new initiative of The Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF), empowers the young adult voter to amplify his or her voice with the help of friends. Built by The AGF's Summer Community Team, Vote Everywhere offers a growing toolkit of content (see below) and events to stimulate a voter engagement conversation. The initiative asks: do your friends vote? via online chats, a video series, hashtagged conversation (#VoteEverywhere), graphics and offline events. And offers information, entertainment and tips to build a micro voting bloc by igniting friends and allies. The Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF) will launch the first Vote Everywhere meetup in New York City on 7.25.12, 6-9pm at Sullivan Hall in Greenwich Village. This event is the first of many locally-grown meetups to offer young adults tools to activate their networks to vote together, always and everywhere. The NYC meetup will feature David Goodman, brother of Andrew Goodman and President of The AGF, in conversation with Andy Bernstein, Executive Director, Headcount, a non-partisan organization that works with musicians to promote participation in democracy. Goodman and Bernstein will lead an interactive discussion on using music culture to connect shared interests to citizen engagement. HeadCount will also register voters on site.
