http://www.doubleelephant.org.uk http://www.time-to-change.org.uk/ A short film about Double Elephant Print Workshop's 'Conversation Station'. Funded by Time To Change as part of a national campaign, the aim of The Conversation Station is to get people talking about mental health, using printmaking as a means to start these conversations. All artwork was designed by Double Elephant's Print on Prescription group, with the exception of a few generous donations by artist, David Shrigley. Letterpress printing is in my blood. I have been into letterpress since before I knew what the process actually was. Since my humble beginnings as a graphic designer at the tender age of 21 I can recall always being attracted to the naturally distressed look of letterpress printed posters. The bold and ornate styles of type spoke directly to me. This is what they said: "You will print shit like this one day." And so I did. And I do. In addition to the old school style of printing I also enjoy the modern take on letterpress with deep impression and a tangibility impossible to achieve outside this medium. I have had the pleasure of designing and printing wedding invitations in addition to greeting cards, posters, stationary, baby shower invites, among other projects. Basically I love any aspect of letterpress printing and if something can be letterpress printed I will do it. However, I need your help to get me printing 365 days a year. You see, my letterpress studio is not necessarily a "studio." It's presses, paper, type, letterpress supplies, ink scattered about in an unfurnished garage. It's awesome I have the space, but it's like having ice cream without a cone and no cup is available, either. Sure you can have someone scoop the delicious salted caramel gellato right into the palm of your hand, but it's far from optimal. So in a manner of speaking I am hoping you can get my ice cream a chocolate dipped waffle cone. So what am I asking for exactly here? The purpose of this Kickstarter is to raise enough funds to insulate, drywall and add a simple heating and air conditioning system to the garage to help keep the temperatures to a temperature that is optimal for letterpress printing, which is in the high 60s. At the moment I am at the mercy of Mother Nature. And while I am very much located in Colorado and enjoy 300 days of sunshine the temperature hardly ever sits at the high 60s so I can happily tackle any projects without technical difficulties. There are times when I have been working on a project and it's -11 below. In the particular photo I wanted to die instead of print. But, like I said it's something I can't help but do. But, I took a selfie just to capture this moment and mark it down as a day I decided change needs to happen. In this photo you can see the top of the press and also the bare bones walls. My goal is to turn this into a legitimate business and place myself more in the background at Tee & Cakes, where I run the daily front of the house operations at a downtown Boulder bakery I own with my lovely wife. Thank you for checking out my Kickstarter project and even bigger thank you if you pledged! Special thank you to Patrick Kelley for directing, shooting and editing the video. And to Kevin Kerndt for sound and video editing and consulting. Work samples can be seen at www.dogsandstars.com

An installation by Fred Penelle & Yannick Jacquet Exhibition at STRP Biennial 2015 / Eindhoven (NL) 20 - 29 March 2015 “While the passage of time seems to accelerate every day, Fred Penelle and Yannick Jacquet offer a pause, a suspension, a breath. A strange mechanism stretches across the wall, populated with shadowy chimeras. They are mysterious and yet somehow familiar. Is this a laboratory experiment or the plan for a future network? Minutely constructed like a fine clock, it traces connections, routes, genuinely-false, looping itineraries, inviting escape, inviting dreams. The narrative is deconstructed like a thousand-storied film script. Every effort is made to lead astray, to turn around, to forge ahead. Time is shredded, decomposed, lost…and yet everything references it. Mécaniques Discursives is like a parenthesis between two epochs: Gutenberg’s and Big Data’s. By contrasting the oldest form of image reproduction (woodcutting) with the most recent digital technologies, the installation straddles centuries and contracts time.” www.mecaniques-discursives.net www.antivj.com Mécaniques Discursives short documentary: www.vimeo.com/118994744

                      What are Tags?

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
