Calling All Rocketeers! Calling All Rocketeers! "PROPULSION" is On the Air! In this Episode... Inspired by academic lectures on the budding scientific field of rocketry, young Jack Parsons and trusty Ed Forman head to CalTech to find a student who would understand the science, math, and theory needed to test actual rockets. They would find Frank Malina, a grad student whose advisor, Theodore von Karman, happened to be the head of the Aeronautics Department at CalTech. Roger Malina, Frank Malina's eldest son, recounts the story of how the small group of young rocket enthusiasts approached von Karman with the idea of doing a Ph.D thesis on rocketry... Dr. James F. Woodward explains how to build faster-than-light warp drives and even stargates, based on Mach's principle which would allow spacetime distortions compatible with general relativity. In his research lab at California State University, Fullerton, he tries to demonstrate Mach effects in various experiments to validate the theory. "Keep on Smoking", 2005 Bicycle, generator, battery, analogue gauge, smoke machine 100 x 85 x 60 cm This bicycle transforms the kinetic energy produced by the cyclist into smoke. The cyclist's will to power is a source of renewable energy recycled by a generator that transforms physical effort into enough electric current to activate a smoke machine. This work is the result of the marriage of two machines: one produces while the other consumes. This “copulation” between machines generates smoke, which escapes freely into the atmosphere.

The body was then equipped with a mechanical system made up of four autonomous pairs of pedals, enabling the passengers to form a self-propelling group. With this modified car, capable of reaching up to 15 km/hour, resistance to the culture of performance has been taken to an unprecedented level.
