A sequence from the "Morecambe Bay Our Heritage Part 1" double dvd. Taking two years to research, script, film and produce by award winning heritage film Director Chris Abram, it shows by the use of modern videography and Victorian photographs how the Victorian seaside town of Arnside in the North West of England developed from a few old Viking houses. It was the coming of the Furness Railway in 1857 which completely changed that part of the North West of England forever by bringing mass tourism to The Lake District for the first time. See also Morecambe Bay Our heritage Parts 2 & 3 for more about the heritage of the Furness Railway. It is also featured in a truly memorable 2hr 45min double dvd "Bittern Country Our Heritage". It tells of the beauty, heritage and culture of a largely unknown area of England, which includes the Arnside/Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the coast of Morecambe Bay and the edge of the Lake District in the North West of England. It is Chris's aim to try and capture as much of our proud, rich heritage before it all disappears under external influences and beaurocracy, and which are both threatening to do away with our christianity based culture, morals and laws forever. We must never let that happen. For further information go to website or to purchase any of chris's award winning dvd's www.heritagevideoproductions.co.uk Or email via chris@eventspecialists.co.uk. On the 8th of April 1961, the last steam train ran the mile-long stretch of what once was the Great Midland and Western Railway to Liffey Junction from the Broadstone railway terminus. The intervening fifty years has allowed nature to reclaim this inaccessible green corridor and it remains Dublin's hidden secret garden.
