1. Crabbing and Clamming at Fort Stevens State Park, Oregon

    from Vance Miller Added 574 0 0

We spent a week camping at Fort Stevens State Park. We really wanted to try and catch the elusive Razor Clam. I spent four days going out at low tide to find the clams without any luck. I dug up sand worms, sand shrimp, sand moles, and a host of other sand dwelling creatures without coming across a single clam. I was beginning to think that Razor Clams might just be an Oregon prank for tourists. Much like snipe hunting was when I was a Boy Scout. On the fifth night at the lowest tide I found the little boogers. There showings were everywhere and we had a great lime catching our limits. Fort Stevens State Park is a beautiful location with access to incredible outdoor activities. We went out to the edge of the Jetty and caught six Dungeness Crabs. We boiled the crabs in Bud Light and had an amazing crab dinner.

He is making a quick recovery and is still able to do the things he loves, like clam digging and road trips in the dolphin RV. He is easily amused, likes dirty jokes, always talking with strangers, and is never in a rush.
