Fourth in the series of 'In Conversations' at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, co-curator Kathy Battista is in conversation with five of the artists showing in the exhibition, Sweethearts: Artist Couples: Mary Kelly & Ray Barrie, Neo Rauch & Rosa Loy and Richard Wentworth. The discussion addresses ideas, histories and politics of collaborative practice, with specific reference to the stories and process behind the pieces produced for Sweethearts. This exhibition Sweethearts: Artist Couples, 21 March - 21 April 2012, presented rare collaborations by some of the world’s most important artist couples - Gary Hume & Georgie Hopton, Antony Gormley & Vicken Parsons, Ray Barrie & Mary Kelly, Ian Davenport & Sue Arrowsmith, Kelly Barrie & Sherin Guirguis, Rem Koolhaas & Madelon Vriesendorp, Dan Graham & Mieko Meguro, Neo Rauch & Rosa Loy, Sam Durant & Ana Prvacki and Richard Wentworth & Jane Wentworth. Using their individual respective practices - artist, designer, or architect - each couple has collaborated on a unique and significant work, each piece being jointly negotiated, conceptualised and created.
