Two runs down the Russell Fork Gorge (one PFD), the day after my Green River Narrows PFD. Not the greatest lines on a few and perhaps a bit tired. All in all, two great laps (minus the swim after El Horendo) with Pablo McCandless and Tuan Truong.

Flows were good the entire month of November...from 400-550almost every weekend. Paddlers showed up and boofed, splatted, flipped, swam and high-fived their way down the Gorge all month while the rest of the southeast was dry. This is all hand-held and mostly shaky shore footage...hard to control the shakes in the GORGE.

A riveting account of YT's boat retrieval....he swam in the cave at Fist a week earlier, barely escaping the jaws of doom but his boat and paddle were lost...a week later a crew paddled in at 420 cfs and found the boat. Paddle still belongs to the Gorge, but the Stomper is intact and happy.

All of the major rapids in the Russell Fork Gorge...AKA the Grand Canyon of the South. Located on the Kentucky/Virginia border, the Russell Fork River has 3 sections to paddle from beginner to advanced...the Gorge section is a serious class IV run at low water, go with someone who knows the lines your first time down! This is a beautiful part of southern Appalachia. Please support the local economy whenever possible!

Here is a VERY ROUGH edit of some footage from a few weeks ago of the RF gorge at ~200 cfs. I haven't had much time for editing, but thought I'd throw it up here to help out those looking into doing a low water run the first time. The bottom of third drop can have a nasty pin spot/ sieve as you can see in the video, that changes depending on water level, scouting and safty (and a bare ass) are advised. I turned the night vision on in fist after I was in but forgot to hit record after I did, so you don't get to see much of the 'shorter' but wood filled exit. I'll get that footy my next time in there =) Big ups to Steve (gold helmet) for making that run more and more fun each time, making the most out of low water.
