1. volumeBend v.0.01

*Please watch the samples of the updated version here ( https://vimeo.com/97900315 ) ** You can skip the first 23 seconds and start at 0:24. This digital asset deforms the input volume based on second input(curve). It also has a built-in noise function that only works when the second input is not connected. It's a very simple network, all SOP based and unfortunately we do lose some detail! But there are controls for division size and blur and other things that should be adjusted based on scene scale. ( 1:10 ) You can see how it works on a static volume, it's only using the noise! All SOP again.

      • One Hour of San Diego Surfing Time Collapsed: San Diego Study #4

        from Cy Kuckenbaker Added 284K 1,630 72

This video was created from one hour of source footage shot from a bluff in San Diego the morning of Jan 21, 2014. I was interested in exploring the manipulation of water and to see how the movements and patterns from surfing interact. Watching surfing typically happens in one or two ways: in films/videos or in person standing on a pier, beach or bluff. In most surf films, the riders are so talented and the waves are so good it becomes an abstraction from the average viewer's/surfer’s experience at an average break. On the other hand, watching in person can be very slow and depending on the swell there may be long stretches when nothing happens at all. This video is a playful attempt to split the difference and reveal just how much can actually happen in an hour in an otherwise nondescript surf spot with non professional riders. There are no CG elements, these are all real surfers and real waves with the time separating them removed. The video does not contain every wave that passed during the hour; I picked the best rides but otherwise tried to maintain chronology. A sample of the source footage may be viewed here: http://vimeo.com/95695485 A look at the AE editing may be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/95881511 My blog post with additional info, text and images here: http://tinyurl.com/pqdymcv The San Diego Studies is a series of short videos that collapse time to reveal otherwise unobservable rhythms and movement in San Diego. from Ehsan Parizi Added 1,049 61 1

A surface noise that I made in Houdini. It's done in VOP SOP, and a final layer of noise is done in the shader. I'm working on a shader-only version so the whole noise exists in the shader.

experiment #2: geometry, converted to VDB, blended and converted back to polymesh. an additional rest field is also blended, and a 3d displacement noise is applied using the rest field. this is an alternative version of the previous video (https://vimeo.com/88436288). although this particular case is a bit popping at some edges, with higher resolution geometry and volumes this could be a basis for many interesting effects.

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
