1. Biofuels: Unlocking the Energy Secrets of the Planet

    Cal Poly Science Cafe at Kennedy Library welcomed Kathleen Krueger on Thursday, January 30, 2014, to speak about her work with biofuels. Kathy spoke about her research of fungi as a renewable energy source, along with rocks and other feedstocks. Kathy is a STEM Teacher and Researcher Program (STAR) fellow who studied fungi at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington. She won the second place Margaret Burbidge Award for best experimental research at the 2012 American Physical Society, California-Nevada Section Annual Conference at Cal Poly. This event was offered in partnership with the College of Science and Mathematics and the Center for Excellence in STEM Education.
