Sachtler Speed Level Clamp I have used Sachtler tripods for more than 20 years. In my honest opinion for news and documentary work you cannot beat them. At NAB earlier this year i stumbled across the Sachtler Speed Level Clamp. It was my favourite product from NAB this year. This may sound strange given how many products are at NAB but in the real world this product was something that I could see myself using on a daily basis. While it didn’t receive much fan fair when I first saw it on the show floor my immediate reaction was “Why hasn’t someone done this before?”. As a news and documentary shooter I can be adjusting my tripod legs and tripod head at least 50-100 times a day depending on the job. This all takes valuable time. If you for example adjusted your tripod head 50 times a day and it took you an average of 10 seconds to do it each time, that is 8 minutes a day your spending adjusting your tripod head. Event, news and documentary shooters know that speed is key when doing your job. Being able to adjust your tripod quickly and efficiently can sometimes mean the difference between getting a shot and missing it. I know from personal experience that I have missed shots because I was still trying to level off a tripod head. To solve these problems Sachtler released the Speed Level Clamp. Now while there was nothing wrong with their old system, the SpeedLevel Clamp gives you the ability to level your tripod head very quickly and gives you the added piece of mind that it won’t slip. The Sachtler SpeedLevel Clamp is designed with squeeze handles that let you accurately and easily level your fluid head, Instead of the traditional method of twisting and untwisting, the SpeedLevel Clamp loosens the head position when you squeeze the handles and sets the head in place the moment you release the squeeze. The SpeedLevel Clamp is compatible with all Sachtler 100mm heads and supports a maximum weight of 55 lb. (Third-party heads may not be compatible because a Sachtler 10mm thread is required. The Speed Level Clamp retails for $144.00 and can supper weights of up to 55lb. Currently it is only available for use with Sachtler 100mm heads but It will be interesting to see if they make different versions for other tripod heads in their range.

Related post: http://www.cinema5d.com/?p=26157 We welcomed our sponsor Vitec Videocom at an On The Couch show recording that we did at Cine Gear 2014 in Los Angeles recently. Vitec Videocom already were guests at an On The Couch episode from NAB which you can watch here - but they had so many new products to share it made a lot of sense to host them again. David Linstrom, a cinematographer based in Los Angeles, was also part of the discussion. He is one of the camera operators on the TV show "Wilfred" which is about a man dressed in a dog's costume - and for that show, they are using Nikon D800 cameras only. We talked about why they decided to do that as it's quite an unusual decision for a large TV series to shoot exclusively on DSLRs. David also talked about the advantages of the Anton/Bauer battery systems that they are using to power their units as well as their use of OConnor accessories and several tripods. Michael Gailing, director of marketing of Teradek, which has also become a Vitec company last year, was in our show for the first time too. He talked about their wireless HD transmission product line-up which was massively extended and updated. Sherry Fragomeni from Anton/Bauer clarified the new naming structure for the V-Mount batteries which are now going to be sold under the Anton/Bauer brand rather than the Sachtler brand (both Vitec companies) like previously planned. Ali Ahmadi was the only repeating guest on the couch but he had great news to share: The new Litepanels ASTRA 1x1's which come in a new modern housing with much larger LEDs like the 1x1's we know. It's also an incredible 4 times brighter. Combine that with the fact that a lot of Litepanels products have gone down by 45% in pricing, and you've got a veritable wonder on your hands.

P&Co present "A Day In The Life - Clark & Timms" This editorial video follows the two founding brand owners of P&Co in "A Day In The Life". The film follows Clark & Timms throughout their day, meeting with clients & web designers. We watch them go through sketches for new designs. Meetings with models discussing new collection pieces together. While keeping the profiles of Clark & Timms a bit of a mystery. We wanted to give you an insight into what we do to try and make P&Co grow into one of the UK's leading fashion brands. The video holds a deeper meaning that entwines with our latest collection "The Founders Collection". We are two different people with different ideas and styles but when we collectively put our ideas together, something quite interesting and special unfolds. That’s why P&Co works. Whilst our personalities run through the entirety of P&Co, it has only been in recent collections that our names have become key features in certain designs. This collection sees us take pride in our our own family heritage and create a simplistic line to celebrate that. All of the pieces in the collection use the phrase ‘Clark & Timms’, for us this was and is the building blocks and a solid foundation for P&Co. With a joint love of hand drawn typography this collection sees us adorn this skill and style in our designs. www.pand.co
