The Hope Gap: Inner City School Virtual Lecture Series The Fort Wayne Museum of Art has administered one of the most successful regions in the country, winning 51 National Scholastic Medal last year alone. However we have notice a sharp decline in the participation of inner city students in our community, the very same students that need inspiration, motivation and scholarships that the Scholastic Art and Writing Program provides the most. The success of our region often times comes from schools that have more resources, leaving inner city kids to feel that they have already lost, and the role models winning students from our region don’t look or sound like them. Antonio Pulgarin (www.antoniopulgarin.com) a Graduate of SVA, and a 2007 National Scholastic Gold Medal Portfolio Winner was our amazing lecturer. His impassioned talk inspired over 100 students from South Side High School in late October 2014. Also an incredible thanks to the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers for their amazing work with young people and access to artists like Antonio Pulgarin to inspire our Urban Youth.
