This film is the essence of a 14 days boat expedition to the Galápagos National Park and shows the beauty, the biodiversity and the difference of the park's islands - from above, shot with a drone, and from below, revealing the vast marine life in the waters around. The short clip is a trailer for a series about the different dive spots of the Galápagos, but also stands for itself as an independent piece of areal & nature filming. While I was in a hide photographing penguins, I had a little visitor that suddenly appeared from nowhere. Although very tempting I refrained from stroking him. When getting this close to wild animals the interaction has to be completely on their terms. I did keep a wary eye out for mum though, but she must have been out feeding.

This is a photo/video slideshow I made to burn to DVD for my grandparents and other family members who do not access the internet. Included in this video are shots of humpback whales, orcas, bald eagles, harbor seals, steller sea lions, brown bears, and porcupines, as well as shots of the Mendenhall glacier, Mendenhall ice caves, surrounding mountains, aurora borealis, Eaglecrest Ski Area, and random shots around Juneau and Douglas Island. All photo/video was taken by myself or my boyfriend, except the first three shots of the aurora borealis which was taken by photographer Frank Pierce, and a few of the Sheep Mountain heli trip photos taken by Bill Glude. I put this video together in a couple hours using Final Cut Pro X, which I've found to be the best video editing program I've ever worked with. I'm no editing pro, so go easy on me if you're a video critic :) This is more of a personal video, but if you intend to use it for any purpose, please link back to www.peacelovesnowflakes.blogspot.com Music: The XX - Intro (long version)

What a beautiful and peaceful trip through Alaska, onboard the Nautilus Swell. We covered a 1000 Nautical miles in 14 days, starting at Sitka, and finishing the loop at Juneau. We dove, hiked, swam in the ice fields, kayaked along Grizzly's, swam with Salmon, and watched Humpbacks! What a wonderful trip in one of the world's last frontiers! This was a great Backscatter trip, during the July time of year.
