The Old Kings Road in Florida was built by the British prior to the American Revolution. It ran from Georgia down the east coast of Florida to New Smyrna. It was once the main roadway into Florida and existed from 1774 to 1914. The Seminole War, the early Florida settlers, the Civil War, the first Plantations all used this ancient road. It was named as one of the most important roadways in America. This is historian Bill Ryan's early research on this nearly vanished piece of American History. Bill Ryan later wrote a book "The Search for Old Kings Road" which can be found on his website oldkingsroad.com
