I too frolic on the hallowed shores of Cyprus, and I refuse to eat anywhere that has less than a two-week waitlist on the books. I’ve risen from the foam of $7 lattes and that that drips from the mouths of today’s white-collar princes. Like my namesake, my origin story is derived from the castration of powerful men. I take their devotion and self-worth, and I leave to be formed again when boredom sets in, or the checkbook runs out. I was born complete. There were no rosy-tinged days of pigtails and polka dots for me. This person that I am now has always been. There was a man once, who made me think I could remember a time of innocence. He was volatile, overwhelming, insatiable. Our association endowed me with a savageness that threatened everything I had built, but out of our union – agápe, éros, philía, and storgē. It ruined me, as relentless hope so often can. I've thrown all my weight behind my dimpled cheeks and tinkling bell of a laugh, and I vow to make you unhappy until I smile again. Things sure change a lot and don’t I know it. I remember my dad telling me a thing or two about time and change when I was young. That was so long ago I can’t quite recall the details. I know he told me more or less that everyone’s life is like a big pie and each year you tack on is another slice you have to make in the pie. When you’re five years old you only have five slices and another year seems like a god damned eternity, a whole extra 20% of your pie, imagine that! Then you get older. And your pie gets a whole lotta slices and fast. Soon you get to realizing maybe you had a bad year, even a bad decade. And it just came and went the same way a day does. That’s why I like to just sit and look around. Just watch all these pies walkin' around. Makes me feel like I might just have some good slow slices left. There are so many ways to fix things up. To patch a thing so it doesn’t have any holes, or… still has them I guess but they’re covered. Sometimes though…sometimes the patch can define the thing. Can become the thing. The little fix put on to bridge a void became the defining characteristic of the thing. Like stories sometimes have a great big plot hole. They’re well thought-out and drawn-up but there’s some gaping void of logic somewhere. More times then not it’s okay cause the thing you came up with to fix it had to be good. Good enough to steal the show even. Musicians sometimes make their songs a little too short- like, they got a good chorus and can play it a couple times but gotta figure out what goes in between. That’s usually the best part of the song when all’s said and over with. Sure sometimes a patch-up job can be a pox. A scar that shows just how bad the stitch work was until the day you’re in the ground. Even in that case it defines the thing though. It’s ok to appreciate a thing cause it doesn’t have any holes or gaps but just know that it probably used to. Or will. Anything devoid of voids had a long road to get that way or has one coming. Fly straight, guīmì. Stay true, move strong, what more can you do? I’ve been calling to you. Through the mists that sweep through the old town gate and the rush of the mountain waterfalls, I have whispered your name. Naturalness. Is that what they call it? Come here to me, but come not for me, come not for the mountain. Come to be. Be in the way that the leaves turn towards the sun. Be in the way that the birds sweep across the sky in the evening. How is it to have action without action? It doesn’t mean to step slowly or to whittle away to nothing in honor of the almighty thought. One cannot chase after wu wei. It doesn’t even happen to you. It is you. You, me, here, the mountain. Turn your ear, turn your mind, turn your wing. Life has been waiting for you since you were born. ARTIST: Liu Dao 六岛 MEDIA: RGB LED display, acrylic painting, paper collage, teakwood frame EDITION: Unique DATE: Made in island6, Shanghai (year) SIZE: 103.5(W)×103.5(H)×5(D) cm CREDITS : Jin Yun 金云 (painting) • Thomas Charvériat (art direction & technical guidance) • Anto Lau (art direction & video animation) • Jean Le Guyader (documentation) • Yeung Sin Ching 杨倩菁 (production supervisor) • Adam Hsieh 谢昕 (production supervisor) To read more please visit: http://www.island6.org/PathToMountQingcheng.html

                      What are Tags?

                      Tags

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
