            • Man suffers burns in house fire

              A 33-year-old man sustained first and second degree burns when the home he and members of his family live in on Lake Boulevard burned to the ground early in the morning on Jan. 26, 2012, the Shasta Lake Fire Protection District said. Ian Laurencis was the only one home when the fire erupted at around 8:40 a.m. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center. His mother, Janelle Anderson, and his brother, Rory Anderson, were not at home when the fire broke out. Photos in the video by Becky Kale.

                • C.V. vs. West Valley

                  Central Valley saw their season come to an end on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, as they lost on the road to West Valley 45-20 in the annual Valley Bowl. The Eagles scored 21 points in the first quarter and took a commanding 31-0 lead into the half. Dylan Sindorf rushed for over 140 yards for C.V. and scored two touchdowns. He also completed a pair of passes, one on a fake punt to Tyler Moore, and the other on a fullback pass to Kawan Gaidowsky who made a nice one-handed grab. The Falcons final touchdown came late in the game on a 70-yard run by Sawyer McDonald. The game also saw senior lineman Erik Scribner carry the ball one time (photo above).                     SHASTA LAKE - Central Valley lost to Corning here on Oct. 28, 2011, 34-20, in the Falcons final regular season home game. After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter, C.V. bounced back scoring one touchdown in the second quarter and two in the third to take a 20-14 lead. But the momentum in the game shifted back to the Cardinals again as they scored the next three unanswered touchdowns to win the Northern Athletic League game. Video and editing - Ron Harrington.
