Getting sick is never convenient, but convenient care clinics aim to make feeling bad a little better. Take Sheila Walsh. She’s here so someone can look at a cut that wasn’t healing. “I removed the band aid and tore my skin. Well a week later it got infected, so I came over here,” says Walsh. With more than 9,000 similar clinics operating nationwide, more people than ever before are getting their needs met in places like Lee Memorial Health System’s Convenient Care clinic. “Convenient Care is the place to go for issues that need to be seen immediately. Such as an ear infection, sore throat, running a high fever, having a cough, if you cut yourself, lacerations, even minor broken bones,” says Dr. Tiffani Magee, who is a family and urgent care practitioner with Lee Memorial Health System. Add to that bladder issues, bug bites, rashes, sprains, strains, colds and the flu. Many patients have a family doctor, but need added support. “Now that we have a doctor shortage it’s hard to get in same day for a lot of issues that need to be seen that same day. So this would be the appropriate place for that,” says Dr. Magee. Convenient Care clinics are meant to co-exist with other healthcare settings. When people have urgent needs should be taken care of right away, but don’t need to go to the hospital. “An emergency room is the perfect place to go if you’re having chest pain, shortness of breath, you feel like you might be having a stroke, heart attack - those are things that need an emergency facility,” says Dr. Magee. Nationally, the most common diagnosis within convenient care is respiratory issue. The most common procedure is wound repair. Reassuring Sheila she came to the right place. “One, it’s very convenient to where I live. And two, I didn’t have to have an appointment,” says Walsh. Open seven days a week with extended hours, clinics like this are treating urgent issues with a dose of convenience. 4 DAYS FREERIDE 5,6 KM 16 HAIRPINS 200 RIDERS 26.-29. AUGUST 2015 This 6km long highway mountain road with 16 hairpins, many sweepers, and long straight sections will make any skater drool. Once you look at the road you would think it was built just for skating. It really looks incredible. This road has two distinct sections. The upper part is really quick with a lot of long strait sections, while the bottom part is just one hairpin after another (15 hairpins in all!!!). If you carve you only have to slide 3 times, if you bomb you need to check almost every corner. To top this all off, perfect asphalt and this huge wide road makes this one an absolute big mountain skate. Camp ground is about 6 km from the track. Busses will shuttle riders up to the track. There is a river located near the camping area along with 12 warm showers and toilets. Don’t miss out on this one!!!
