I am definitely a flow addict, so when the snow melts, I drop everything, the work, the studies and go enjoy it. Rivers and creeks in my home hills, that´s the true sense of the word "Snowmelt".

March 14, 2015 - The earliest we have ever seen so much melting going on. A square mile of forest snow comes through this single culvert, which is obviously flowing, but is filled with slush. It shall soon run free as the temperature tomorrow is supposed to equal today's, but with full sun. This year's snow cover is much lighter than average.

              • Living City: A Billion Gallons a Day

                from Blue Chalk / Added

The NewsDox unit of Blue Chalk produced the Living City series in collaboration with The New York Times video department and metro desk. The six-part series looks at a range of major New York city and state infrastructure projects, from subways to waterways, waste management to steam systems. "A Billion Gallons a day" is the fifth video in the "Living City" series. It looks at the New York City watershed, where rain water and snow melt take a three-month journey to the city's taps. Covering parts of eight New York counties and a small sliver of Connecticut, the watershed includes 19 reservoirs and three controlled lakes. It has the capacity to hold 5.8 billion gallons of water. And 9.4 million people depend on it every day. The Living City series is the first major initiative to come from NewsDox, a division of Blue Chalk Media designed to report and produce visual journalism with major news organizations and knowledge brands. It's a tradition in Hawaii to drive up Mauna Kea (the Big Island's 14,000 ft. mountain), shovel snow into the back of a pickup truck, drive home and have as much fun as you can before it all melts in the 85 degree weather. On this cloudy day, it took our little snowman about two and a half hours to become a puddle in the sand. In Summer. Lyrics [Frozen] sung by Josh Gad Frozen © Disney. March 7 & 8, 2014 Friday morning we had no snow, not what we expected. By 11 AM, Palmer Divided was getting the first snow flakes of the day. By 6 PM we had significant accumulation and we went out to clean the driveway. As usual, no snow plow from our county DOT. When we awoke on Saturday morning we saw we had over 10" of heavy wet snow. We once again cleaned the driveway and by 11 AM the sun was shining and melting the snow. The wonderful Colorado blue sky was evident all around us. Still no snowplow - they must have taken the weekend off.
