A video installation made for Sonic Vigil VII improvised music and sound art festival in Cork, Ireland on 23-24th November 2012. The installation was hosted at The Guesthouse, the warmth and feeding outpost of the main festival held down the lane at St. Anne's Church, home of the famous Shandon Bells. Rotational Intersection was created in, for, and by Cork. Making zither recordings in a house in Turner's Cross, throughout the morning and afternoon I wandered the city looking for interesting acoustic spaces to play the recordings in through a small battery powered amplifier. Printed to these sounds in the subsequent recordings made in the different spaces are the ambiances, backround noise and occasional snippets of conversation and music. My journey took me from Church of Christ the King in Turner's Cross, a small outdoor carpark, sheltering under an archway in the rain, walking down South Mall, Oliver Plunket St., through the English Market, Triskel Christchurch, the green bridge crossing from the Opera House up to Shandon, and finally St. Anne's Church in Shandon, during set up. The video was recorded at the same time as the audio recordings using a rotating technique. Thanks to Mick O'Shea, Irene Murphy and Danny McCarthy for inviting me to take part in the festival. Sonic Vigil is gold, if you get a chance go next year!

Droning was a performance drawing piece created for an annual noise event called 'Sonic Vigil' in 2008, held in St Finbarres Cathedral in Cork city. A group of artists and other practitioners formed a group called 'The Yoyo club' and collaborated in pairs for the exhibition. This piece was about the language of line. There were two acting roles in this performance... 1. The Director (or the eyes) 2. The Draftsman (or the ears) The Director tells the Draftsman where to make a line and how, only using directional language. A language was developed over a period of 9 weeks between the two artists, and practiced until they were able to draw together for 5 hours straight during the Sonic Vigil event.
