Orion, located at the Odyssey sector in Kalymnos, was once considered 8a. It has fairly easy 7a-ish climbing up to a pretty dang tough boulder problem at the lip of the cave, then finishes with a few hard moves followed by much easier, but pumpy, terrian. I would hardly call this route a gimmie but, if you have bouldering power this is a good place to start in Kalymnos for a short 7c+. I will add though, the longer routes in Kalymnos are quite a bit easier move for move than the shorter routes, so if endurance is your thing and not power, stay off anything under 25 meters at your desired grade level - that is if you looking to fluff yer 8a.nu scorecard.

Gopro vid of Eddie Avallone and myself out for a strole on a really fun 5 pitch route on the island of Telendos, just off the shores of Kalymnos. The rock was not quite as good as the tuffa cave climbing on Kalymnos, but we had to go climb it!

This is some Gopro footage of a group solo (Kevin Mahoney, Matt McCormick, Pat Goodman) mission out to Cannon Cliff during the 2010 Nor'easter. My first visit to Cannon, what a great intoduction, thanx fellas!! The night before was filled with drinking - I woke up from my drunken slumber at 4:30 am and puked, passed out again, woke back up at 6:15 am, jumped in Kevin's van, drove to Cannon, ran/stumbled down the trail, stumbled up the route, ran/stumbled back down the trail. Made it back to the event happy and hungover by 10:00am.

In August, Pat, Taki and I made the 16 mile hike in to the north face of Mt. Hooker with the intention of climbing something new. After a long hot summer in the south we couldn't wait to shiver at belays. Our cravings for relief from the southern shmarm were satisfied and Taki and I freed all the pitches of a route that generally (wit a bit of variation) follows the Third Eye and the Boissenault/Larson route.

This is a slide show type flick, a super dorky day with me and my lady ninja, Lydia Zamorano. When you're in love, you don't have to be cool any more. ha ha. Tall Storey is a modern mega classic, towering 8 pitches it goes all free at 5.11c in Echo Canyon, Canmore, Alberta. The route has an hour and a half approach, and we went pretty slow, enjoying the day, we did the climb in 8 hours car to car, but a rock slide washed out the descent trail, making it scary and dangerous, glad we're home and I'm able to upload this for family and friends. Just another fun day in the mountains I guess. Stay tuned for the finale - after 8 pitches of 5.11 climbing, and an off the couch no falls ascent, Lydia nearly loses her cool gunning for the summit.
