Thornes is a funky new concept that's opened up in what estate agents call Mid-town Village in Brighton - the North Lanes. Its a deli, butchers, baker, grocer, cafe and restaurant all under one roof and promotes local growers and producers - including in the wines. English wine can often look expensive next to others on the shelf or menu, so its hard to take the plunge on bottle if it turns out to contain gut rot. Here's a couple to recommend with confidence then and a red wine from Wickham that I personally am not a fan of but is promoted by Berry Bros no less. The Stopham Pinot Gris in this vid won a public vote for an event we ran in the Brighton Food and Drink Festival - it really is top drawer.
